All Gotek devices have adjustable airflow

CONS
Differences between the devices in the series are mainly aesthetic rather than technical

The ban on disposable vapes created a wide opening for the companies in the vaping industry to come up with something new because it meant that every person who vaped would need to switch to a different type of device if they wanted to continue vaping. Some companies shifted their focus to pre-filled big puff vapes, while others doubled down on traditional refillable devices.

Aspire took the latter route, which isn’t surprising since the brand has long been renowned for its beginner-friendly refillable vapes. The Aspire Gotek series falls squarely into that category. It’s a range of simple refillable pod systems that are small, highly portable and clearly designed to appeal as much as possible to former users of disposable vapes. If you’re still trying to figure out which non-disposable vape is right for you – or if you’re ready to jump from a pre-filled device to a traditional refillable vape – you may find that an Aspire Gotek device will be right up your alley.

HOW MUCH DO ASPIRE GOTEK VAPES COST?

Aspire Gotek Pro

There are three devices in the Aspire Gotek series at the time of writing. They’re all priced very affordably, and here’s how the product range breaks down.

Aspire Gotek X: Costs £9.95 and includes the device, one 0.8-ohm pod, a charging cable and a manual.

Aspire Gotek Nano: Costs £12.95 and includes the device, one 0.6-ohm pod, a charging cable and a manual.

Aspire Gotek Pro: Costs £16.95 and includes the device, one 0.8-ohm pod, a charging cable and a manual.

As an extra incentive for new vapers or those switching from pre-filled devices, the Gotek X and Gotek Nano both include free bottles of e-liquid when purchased through the links above.

The Aspire Gotek kits are priced extremely competitively, and they include just one pod in order to keep costs low. You’ll want to add a box of pods to your purchase to ensure that you’ll have some replacements available in case your first pod burns out prematurely. Aspire Gotek pods cost £4.99 for a pack of two.

You can generally expect an Aspire Gotek pod to last around a week depending on how heavily sweetened your e-liquid is. When you begin to taste a burnt, smoky flavour that affects your enjoyment of the experience, it’s time for a new pod.

HOW DO THE ASPIRE GOTEK VAPES COMPARE?

Aspire Gotek X

One of the issues that’s followed the vaping industry ever since the beginning is the fact that the names of the different devices sometimes don’t make a lot of sense. That’s definitely true of the Aspire Gotek series. You’d think that the Gotek Nano would be a smaller or simpler device, while the Gotek Pro would have more advanced features. The truth, though, is that the differences between the devices in the series are largely insignificant enough that you can basically just choose the device that you think looks the best. Here’s how the different Gotek vapes compare.

WHAT THE GOTEK NANO, GOTEK PRO AND GOTEK X HAVE IN COMMON
They’re all similar in size.
The Gotek Nano measures 66.01 cubic cm.
The Gotek Pro measures 76.76 cubic cm.
The Gotek X measures 76.81 cubic cm.

They all work with the same Aspire Gotek pods, so they have the same capacities and similar vapour production. The compatibility also means that you can switch freely between the different devices in the series.

None have adjustable power. The only way to alter the vapour production is by using a different pod. Gotek pods are available in resistances of 0.6 (warmer, larger clouds) and 0.8 (smoother, smaller clouds) ohm.

All have adjustable airflow.

All have puff-activated firing only.

All have USB-C charging ports.

Although the devices in the Gotek series are more similar than they are different, each one has one or two unique features that you should be aware of when choosing your device. We’ll discuss those next.

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT THE GOTEK NANO?
It’s the smallest of the three devices in the series, although you might not notice the difference in practice because all three are similar in height and width. The only difference is that the Gotek Nano is a few millimetres thinner.

It’s the only device in the series with a display, which is used to show the battery’s charge level. The other two devices have LEDs only.

It’s the only device in the series with a power button. The button is only used for checking the battery’s status and for turning the device on and off; it’s not a traditional fire button.

It has a battery capacity of 1,000 mAh.

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT THE GOTEK X?
It has a translucent outer shell that allows you to see some of the internal electronics.
It has a loop that allows you to attach a lanyard and wear the device around your neck if you wish. The lanyard loop is removable.
It has a battery capacity of 650 mAh.

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT THE GOTEK PRO?
It’s the only device in the series with a metal outer shell. The metal may enhance durability, but it’s really an aesthetic choice more than anything else because the plastic-shelled devices are quite durable as well.
It has the highest battery capacity in the Gotek series at 1,500 mAh.

ASPIRE GOTEK FEATURES

5

DESIGNED FOR SIMPLICITY
One of the key aspects of the Aspire Gotek series is that the devices are designed specifically to appeal to people who are new to vaping or new to refillable vapes. If you fall into one of those groups, you’ll likely appreciate the simplicity because these devices don’t need any maintenance aside from periodic recharging, refilling and pod replacements.

You won’t find advanced features like variable wattage here, but the designers at Aspire were thoughtful enough to give all of the devices in the series adjustable airflow. The ability to increase or reduce the airflow means that you can enjoy a tight cigarette-like draw or a slightly restricted direct-to-lung hit depending on your preferences.

WIDE RANGE OF AESTHETIC STYLES
The differences between the devices in the Gotek series are really more stylistic than technical. Each Gotek vape has at least one feature that sets it apart from the others – but in practice, you’re not likely to notice the fact that one device in the series has a slightly different battery capacity or is slightly thinner than the others.

Mainly, it’s likely you’ll just choose the device that you think looks the best – and although the Gotek vapes don’t work all that differently from one another, they definitely look different. Chances are that whatever your aesthetic preferences happen to be, you’ll really like the way that at least one of the devices in the series looks.

ASPIRE GOTEK NOT HITTING? HERE’S WHY
Has your Aspire Gotek suddenly stopped hitting even though the battery shouldn’t be dead yet? That’s because all of the devices in the Gotek series will automatically lock themselves in the event of a puff exceeding seven seconds. This feature is intended to prevent overheating if, for example, the device activates inadvertently while you’re carrying it in your pocket. To unlock the device, remove the pod and re-insert it.

ASPIRE GOTEK SERIES REVIEW: FINAL THOUGHTS

6

Overall, I expect the Aspire Gotek series to be very successful among vapers who are either just getting started or are looking to transition from pre-filled vapes to refillable ones. If a refillable device is intended for beginners, it’s important for it to be very simple to use because new vapers don’t want to be bothered with large arrays of configuration options or extensive ongoing maintenance – they just want something that works.

Although the designers at Aspire obviously focused on ease of use when developing the Gotek series, they were thoughtful enough to give the full range of devices adjustable airflow. That’s a good thing because it means that you won’t be stuck with just one airflow setting if you prefer a tighter or looser draw.

Another thing that you’ll enjoy about the Gotek series – although it’s something that you won’t notice until you’ve been using your device for a while – is that Aspire’s reputation for reliability is well earned. If you read the online vaping forums, you’ll see that many brands and devices have complaints that begin to pop up after a few months of use. A device suddenly stops charging or has difficulty detecting the installed pod reliably – things like that. You’ll seldom see those types of complaints about Aspire vapes, which means that you can feel very confident about buying an Aspire Gotek.
