HOW MUCH NICOTINE IS IN A GEEK BAR?

Geek Bar is one of the most successful, well-known vape companies globally, and we can understand why, since they specialise in creating high-quality vapes in delicious flavours, including the Geek Bar Lite and Geek Bar Pro.

With so much to choose from, it makes you wonder, how much nicotine is in a GeekVape? The classic disposable Geek Bar sold in the UK commonly contained 2ml of nicotine salt e-liquid at either 10mg/ml or 20mg/ml, which is around 20mg or 40mg of nicotine in the full device.

However, since single-use geek bars are no longer legal to sell in the UK, the current reusable vapes look a little different.

Today, we will tell you all the ins and outs of Geek Bars' nicotine content, how long they last, and how many cigarettes are in each device.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
A classic UK Geek Bar contained 2ml of e-liquid, usually at a strength of 10mg/ml or 20mg/ml.
Nicotine strengths may also be shown as percentages: 1% equals 10mg/ml, while 2% equals 20mg/ml.
The maximum nicotine strength permitted in standard UK vaping products is 20mg/ml, so 5% or 50mg/ml Geek Bars cannot legally be sold in the UK.
Single-use Geek Bars have been banned from sale in the UK since 1 June 2025, although legal rechargeable and refillable GeekVape products are still available.
There is no reliable way to convert a Geek Bar into an exact number of cigarettes because nicotine delivery depends on the device, the user’s vaping habits, and how deeply they inhale.
Geek Bars commonly use nicotine salt e-liquid, which provides a smoother inhale and is well-suited to compact, low-powered devices.

HOW DO YOU CALCULATE THE TOTAL NICOTINE IN A GEEK BAR?
Looking at the strength of nicotine in a Geek Vape doesn’t tell you how much nicotine is in the vape alone.

You also need to know how much volume of liquid it contains so you can work out the total amount of nicotine in one device. Luckily, all you need to do is multiply its nicotine strength by the volume of e-liquid to get the total amount of nicotine in your Geek Bar, like this:

NICOTINE STRENGTH IN MG/ML × E-LIQUID VOLUME IN ML = TOTAL NICOTINE

For example:
20mg/ml × 2ml = 40mg of nicotine
A lower-strength 10mg/ml Geek Bar containing 2ml of liquid would have:
10mg/ml × 2ml = 20mg of nicotine

WHAT DO 1%, 2% AND 5% NICOTINE MEAN?
Some vapes nowadays display nicotine as a percentage instead of using mg/ml.

Fortunately, converting between the two is simple:

1% nicotine equals 10mg/ml
2% nicotine equals 20mg/ml
5% nicotine equals 50mg/ml

However, in the UK, 20mg/ml is the maximum legal nicotine strength for standard consumer vaping products under the UK TRPR and TPD Regulations, so you won’t come across any geek vapes with 5% nicotine in them sold in the UK.

ARE GEEK BARS STILL LEGAL IN THE UK?
The original single-use Geek Bars are no longer legal to sell or supply in the UK, as a UK-wide ban on single-use vapes came into force on June 1st, 2025.

It covers disposable products containing nicotine as well as nicotine-free versions, but that doesn’t mean every Geek Vape is automatically banned.

GeekVape has introduced a new collection of reusable, refillable vapes, many of which contain nicotine and feature removable, replaceable coils.

HOW MANY CIGARETTES ARE IN A GEEK BAR?
Since vapes work in a completely different way to cigarettes, and every vape has a different nicotine content, there’s no set answer to this question.

A cigarette delivers nicotine by burning tobacco, while a vape heats e-liquid, and the speed and amount of nicotine absorbed can differ considerably between the two.

Since nicotine is absorbed a lot more into the bloodstream when you smoke than vape, vaping is a lot more of a healthy alternative in that aspect, and you can’t equate one vape to any number of cigarettes.

Puff length, vaping frequency, device power, and the way someone inhales also affect how nicotine is delivered to the bloodstream, so it’s impossible to calculate. If you want to reduce your nicotine intake, then we suggest weaning yourself off it by reducing the amount of nicotine you vape slowly over time.

WHAT NICOTINE STRENGTH SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Again, everyone's different, so the right strength for you depends on your previous smoking habits, the type of vape you use, and how frequently you vape.

As a general starting point, an adult moving away from occasional or light smoking may find a lower-strength nic salt more suitable. If you’re already a heavy smoker, then start with 20mg/ml to satiate your cravings.

Once you’ve got the hang of vaping and feel ready to reduce your nicotine levels further, purchase a 10mg Geek Bar. Our guide on choosing the right nicotine strength for you offers a more detailed breakdown based on smoking habits and device type.

WHY DID GEEK BARS USE NICOTINE SALTS?
Geek Bars were prefilled with nicotine salt e-liquid rather than traditional freebase nicotine.
Nicotine salts are commonly used in compact pod devices because they provide a smoother inhale at strengths such as 10mg/ml and 20mg/ml, making them feel less harsh than an equivalent high-strength freebase e-liquid and delivering a smoother throat hit.

They’re also well suited to lower-powered, mouth-to-lung devices that create a tighter, cigarette-style draw.

If you’re moving from an old disposable Geek Bar to a reusable pod kit, you can recreate a similar vaping style by pairing a compact device with a suitable nic salt e-liquid with more nicotine strengths to choose from.

HOW LONG DOES A GEEK BAR LAST?
Since disposable geek bars are now a thing of the past in the UK, there’s no set duration for how long they last.

Once upon a time, a device might have lasted a couple of days, but someone who only vaped occasionally could have made it last longer.

Now, reusable pod kits will last as long as you take good care of them and use them correctly. If the battery becomes faulty, replace it as soon as possible, and your device will last for many more years.
