The MUSKET is the latest release from VOOPOO. Featuring the GENE.TT chipset and a host of smart features it promises to be and exciting addition to the VOOPOO range. Read on to find out our first impressions of the MUSKET and whether this will be your next all-day-vape.
Appearance
New from VOOPOO, the MUSKET has a unique look to it that we haven’t seen from the brand. Adopting a complete aluminium body with a smooth metallic finish. This differs from the DRAG kits that feature a cushioned synthetic grip or VINCI pods with bright and colourful patterns. Although the design is as layered as other VOOPOO kits this actually benefits the device. Rather than bulking up the kit with unnecessary extras the minimalism allows the MUSKET to be more compact.
The shape of the kit resembles a shotgun barrel with two 18650 batteries designed to fit perfectly within. It also leaves no unnecessary space within to mod, making it as compact as possible. The ergonomic round edges also make the kit comfortable in hand.
A small screen on top of the mod displays all the important vape settings including output wattage and coil resistance. A small but handy addition is the battery life for both 18650 batteries. This is useful as it allows you to know which battery needs to be charged rather than swapping out both.
Performance
Requiring two 18650 batteries which are sold separately, it can output up to 120W of power. Wattage adjustments are made using the fire button which or automatically when in smart mode. In smart mode the MUSKET will detect the resistance of the coil in use and adjust it output power to the ideal wattage. There is also an RBA mode.
The MUSKET features USB-C micro charging which feels like a step backwards as most kits now feature USB-C fast charging. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as this kit uses external 18650 batteries which can be swapped out immediately for fresh ones rather than waiting for the kit to device the charge up. Using a USB-C port on the MUSKET would of inflated the price of the kit unnecessarily as the majority of vapers who use 18650 mods charge their batteries separately rather than with the kit.
Ease Of Use
When in smart mode the MUSKET is simple to operate. The wattage is automatically set to the optimum wattage and the pod tank is easy to setup. The PnP pod connects to the MUSKET through a 510 base, this is also where the airflow inlets are located. Vapers who are familiar with the VOOPOO PnP pod tank will have no worries adjusting to the MUSKET. For those unfamiliar, the pod connects to the base through a magnetic connection making it effortless to remove when needed. E-liquid can be filled through a filling port at the base of the pod while the coils use a simple push fit connection to slot into the pod easily.
Price
The VOOPOO MUSKET is just £29.99 on the website. Vapers who don’t use 18650 battery kits may not want to invest the extra money to buy two batteries as well as the kit. However, this kit is aimed at those who will already have 18650 batteries or are looking to switch to a kit that uses external batteries to avoid wait times when charging.
Target Audience
This kit is suited towards experienced vapers. this isn’t something a new vaper should be getting stuck into straight away although it isn’t a complex device. As it utilises the PnP pod tank, vapers who have used other VOOPOO devices with this tank will experience the same great flavour. the 0.2ohm and 0.15ohm coils which come with the kit are design for direct lung vaping. When paired with high VG e-liquid this kit is perfect for cloud chasing.
Verdict
Overall, the VOOPOO MUSKET is a great dual battery mod kit. With the power of two 18650 batteries, it offers plenty of battery life for all-day-vaping at any output wattage. When both the 0.2ohm and 0.15ohm coils are paired with Double Drip Crystal Mist short fill it delivers a blast of icy fruit flavour with a thick cloud of vapour.
